Rehab

Once my spine fractures had healed, I was told that I had to incorporate pilates into my daily routine in order to stay as mobile and as pain free as possible.

After months of little to no movement, I was desperate to start moving and was willing to do whatever it took to get back running. That was my ultimate goal.

I was young and the thought of being on pain medication for life was not something I was willing to settle with. So I made it my focus to get myself to being as strong, fit and mobile as I possibly could whilst also being as pain free as achievable.

When I say I started from the bottom, I started from the very bottom.

My first pilates session post accident, involved the pilates instructor coming to my house as I was unable to sit in a car and I was sat in an arm chair for the duration of the class.

It involved just starting to breathe properly. We spent weeks just starting to build that mind-body connection.

I didn’t realise at the time, but it was from that very basic (but so hard) pilates session that was the start of this new pilates path I was on.

Whilst the accident and years of rehabilitation have been challenging, I can honestly say I am grateful for where it has lead me and for the lessons I have learnt along the way.

I love pilates. I love how strong and connected it has made my body and I feel so privileged that I get to share pilates with my clients. I get to help people feel good, achieve their goals and fall in love with the pilates method.
